Following the success of the BBC drama series 'Ashes to Ashes' starring the sexiest bigot of the 1980's, Gene Hunt, turn up and tune in to the 'New Romantic' revival of the red Audi quattro, now available for the first time for self drive hire in the UK and possibly the world.

Vintage Classics, specialists in self drive classic car hire, have added to their fleet of fine 60's and 70's classic cars an 80's icon. The 80’s classic, an early red Audi UR quattro Turbo, similar to the car driven by Philip Glenister in the TV series 'Ashes to Ashes' has been added to the fleet as a result of public demand. Phil Rowe a partner in Vintage Classics said "Classic cars are now a feature of many films and popular TV series such as Inspector Morse, Heartbeat, and Life on Mars which has created a huge interest from people who would like to drive their favourite or dream car. We purchased the quattro simply because it represented a motoring milestone and during the 80’s they were to expensive for most people to buy, including, I suspect, a DCI”. ‘Ashes to Ashes’ series 2 begins filming in September 2008 and has been scheduled to be shown on BBC in 2009.

Just over 11,000 quattro’s were built, today a car in right hand drive form is quite a rare 80’s classic car, the recent interest generated by ‘Ashes to Ashes’ has seen an increase in desirability now that it has achieved ‘star’ status.
