The grand opening of the new Fuji View grandstand was held in 2007 after the completion of seven years renovation work. The course boasts a multi-screen "Turf Vision", recognized as the world’s largest TV screen by Guiness Book of Records. ![]() Fuji View grandstand Famous Grade 1 races held at the Tokyo racecourse are the Japan Cup, the Tokyo Yushun (the Japanese Derby), the Tenno Sho, the Yasuda Kinen, the Yushun Himba (the Japanese Oaks), the February Stakes, the NHK Mile Cup and the Victoria Mile. ![]() Aerial Shot Tokyo Racecourse The Japan Cup is the most famous horse race of the season in Japan. It is run at the end of November over 2400m on turf. The race starts from the homestretch, about 300m from the winning post. The Japan Cup is an invitational event only. It has established itself as a truly international contest with winners from Japan, North America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy. Held after the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Breeder's Cup Day and before the Hong Kong International Races in December, attracting international thoroughbred horses of high caliber. Prize fund is approx USD 5,079,600.
