gourmet chefStephen Bulmer, Chef Director of the Raymond Blanc Cookery School at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons for the last six years, has just opened his own cookery school.

The school will be called Brook Hall Cookery School after the lovely Queen Anne townhouse Steve and his wife Joanna have purchased in the pretty market town of Winslow, Buckinghamshire.

Students will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the cooking in the chef’s own home.  The house is currently being refurbished to provide two air-conditioned teaching kitchens, designed by Underwood with appliances by Neff, Aga and Falcon; stylish reception rooms and three spacious guest bedrooms - offering students the opportunity to stay overnight and glean some extra tips from Steve over dinner.

Six years running the Raymond Blanc Cookery School has given Steve great insight into what students want from a cookery school. The curriculum will include both practical classes for those who want to develop their technical skills to make more complex dishes and demonstration classes for those who would rather focus on simpler dishes to expand their recipe repertoire. 

Covering a wide range of cuisines and cooking on both an Aga and conventional appliances, courses will suit all levels of ability and all ages – including children’s courses.  Most courses will be one day long and include lunch, but can be added together to make longer courses. 

Children’s courses will be ½ day in length. During his time at Le Manoir Stephen has gained huge acclaim from both students and journalists as an outstanding teacher with a rare gift for combining entertainment with education.  Students will not only develop and improve their cookery skills, but also have a fantastic day out.
