Guy Laroche was born in La Rochelle, France, and started his career as a milliner.
In 1950, he joined Jean Desses. And created his first ready-to-wear collection appeared that year. He opened his first Haute Couture house in 1957.
It was in 1966 that he diversified and launched his first womens fragrance Fidji.
The 1980s were a particularly good time for Laroche in 1982 Drakkar Noir a fragrance for men was launched. In 1985 the first of two Golden Thimble with the second one coming in 1989.
Born in the same year that Laroche opened its Haute Couture house Hervé L. Leroux joined the company as Artistic Director in 2004. A graduate of Beaux Arts he started his career as assistant to Karl Lagerfeld at Fendi then at Chanel.
In the 1980s he started his own labelIn 1985, he launched his own label and worked with Maryll Lanvin for Lanvin Haute-Couture.
The 1990s saw Hervé L. Leroux createing costumes for several Roland Petit ballet productions, but unfortunately saw him loose control of his company and the right to use his name.---
