In 1881 Nino Cerruti's grandfather founded the Lanificio Fratelli Cerruti.
Nino took over the family business in 1950 before his twentieth birthday.
He modernised Cerutti's weaving shops and in 1957 he launched a ready to wear men's collection. Ten years later he opened his first fashion house in Paris. By 1980 he had introduced a fragrance for men called Nino Cerruti.
The 1980's saw a diversification into a sportswear line and went one to become the exclusive designer of the Formula1 Ferrari team. By the middle of the decade a full range of leisure wear had been introduced.
In 1990 he launched the second fragrance for men called "Cerruti 1881".
That year also Cerutti engage in creating denims. The 1990s saw Ceruuti make further inroads into the perfume market with the launch of Cerruti Image for men.
The year 1998 saw the company open its first store in Moscow and the following year a store in New York.
In 2000 Cerruti opened its first boutique in Hong Kong.
