The luxury fashion house, Matthew Williamson, was founded in February 1997 by designer, Matthew Williamson and CEO, Joseph Velosa.

In September 1997 Matthew Williamson showed his infamous debut collection, ‘Electric Angels’, during London Fashion Week. Bias cut dresses and separates in exotic shades of tangerine, fuchsia and magenta were worn by models Kate Moss, Helena Christensen and Jade Jagger. This unique collection of bright, intricately detailed pieces defined and set the pace for the highly recognisable Matthew Williamson signature aesthetic.

London Fashion Week with a spectacular line-up of shows including Stella McCartney's London Fashion Week catwalk debut with sportswear giant Adidas, on Thursday evening, puts London firmly on the fashion hot spot map this week.

Joe Casely-Hayford was born in Ghana in 1956. His family moved to London when he was a child. He worked as an apprentice to a Savile Row tailor before enrolling at the Tailor and Cutter Academy in 1974. In 1975, he joined Central St. Martin's School of Art, for a one-year History of Art course.

Joe then joined the music industry and became well-known as a designer of clothing for rock groups. Demand for his clothes off-stage resulted in freelance contracts as well as commissions for costumes for both theatre and film. In 1992, he dressed U2 for their world tour.
