Jean-Paul Gaultier was born in 1952 and started his career in 1970 at Pierre Cardin. He set up his own label in 1976, creating clothing that owed more to contemporary culture than Parisian couture. He created his first collection for women in 1983 followed by a mens collection in 1985. |
