Between mid-May and mid-July there should be plenty of events and entertainment as it's the celebration of White Nights. Sitting on the 60th latitude north, St Petersburg enjoys late sunsets during this period.
Ballet and Opera performances are mainly during the winter months. A highlight of the year is the Christmas performances of The Nutcracker, danced mainly by children from the Vaganova Ballet School.
